GUI elements to select notification sound always inactive on macOS

Description
I'd like to configure audible notifications, but the GUI elements to either pick a sound file or to directly enter the file name are always inactive (see attached screenshot). Toggling the "Play a sound" checkmark box does not affect the activation state of neither the file picker, nor the file name field, nor the "Apply" button.
I use Quassel v0.13.1 (git-3778a12) on macOS 10.15.1 (Catalina). BTW, that particular Quassel version is not available in the bug tracker's version dropdown menu at the time of filing this report.

I had the same issue with the binary release for macOS on Catalina. When building from source it works fine.

Building from source as in doing all steps manually yourself, or by building from source with the help of MacPorts? I tried the latter, but unfortunately the build failed (for which I filed a bug report with MacPorts).
It is really a shame that I cannot get any of the notification mechanisms to work; delegating to Apple's own desktop notifications does not work either for me.
